How the Shipping Delivery Date Estimator works
The Shipping Delivery Date Estimator projects an arrival date from a ship date, a carrier transit-time figure, and an optional customs clearance buffer, walking both spans forward in business days rather than raw calendar days. It answers "when will this actually arrive" the way a carrier and a customs desk actually operate — skipping weekends and the public holidays of the countries you select, not just adding a number of days to a date.
Transit time and customs clearance are two separate countdowns, not one combined figure. A shipment can clear transit exactly on schedule and still sit for a business day or two at a customs desk that runs on its own working calendar. Estimating with calendar days instead of business days, or treating customs as an afterthought, is the most common reason a delivery date printed at checkout comes in later than promised.
Worked example
A shipment leaves on a Wednesday with a 3-business-day transit estimate and a 2-business-day customs buffer. If a public holiday falls on the following Monday, transit doesn't clear until Tuesday, and the 2-day customs window then runs Wednesday and Thursday — landing the delivery a full business day later than a plain 5-business-day count from Wednesday would suggest, purely because of where the holiday fell in the chain.

Is transit time counted in business days or calendar days?
Business days. Carrier transit estimates are almost always quoted as working days, and the calculator walks the transit window forward skipping weekends and the holidays you select — not by simply adding calendar days to the ship date.
Why is customs a separate buffer instead of part of transit?
Because it runs on a different working calendar. A shipment can clear a carrier's transit network on schedule and still wait on a customs desk that observes its own weekends and public holidays, so the two spans need to be walked one after the other, not blended into one figure.
Does it account for holidays in the destination country?
Yes. Select the countries relevant to the shipment and their public holidays are excluded from both the transit and customs windows, alongside weekends.
