The point of showing every figure together is that the calendar gap and the working gap are different numbers that get confused constantly. Thirty calendar days might be twenty-one or twenty-two business days depending on where the weekends fall and whether a public holiday lands inside the range. Quoting one when you meant the other is how a delivery estimate or a billing period drifts by days, so the analyzer breaks the total into its weekend and holiday components and lets the figures cross-check each other.
Entry order does not matter: the span between two dates is the same magnitude whether you type them in sequence or reversed, and the tool orders the pair internally so the result is always positive. The business-day and holiday figures depend on which calendar governs the range — select the country whose holidays apply, or leave holidays unset to measure weekends only, and read the breakdown to see exactly where the excluded days went.
Worked example
Measuring from a contract start on the 1st to an end on the 30th of the same month gives 29 total days. With a standard Monday–Friday workweek and no holidays inside the range, that resolves to roughly 21 business days, with the remaining 8 falling on weekends — and the same span reads as 4 whole weeks or 696 hours. Add a public holiday inside the window and the business-day figure drops by one while the total stays fixed, which is exactly the reconciliation the breakdown is there to show.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between total days and business days here?
Total days is the raw calendar gap; business days excludes weekends and the public holidays of your selected country. The analyzer shows both at once, plus the count of weekend days and holiday days that were removed, so the total always reconciles against business + weekend + holiday days.
Does it matter which date I enter first?
No. The span between two dates is the same size in either direction, so the tool orders them internally and always returns a positive result. You can drop in a start and an end without worrying which one you typed first.
Can I get the difference in weeks or hours instead of days?
Yes. The same span is reported as whole weeks (total days divided into sevens) and as hours (total days times twenty-four), alongside the day counts, so you can pick the unit that answers your question without doing the multiplication yourself.
