How the Warranty / Guarantee Expiry works
The Warranty / Guarantee Expiry calculator takes the date your coverage begins and its length in months and returns the exact day the warranty runs out, plus how many days of coverage you have left from today. Enter the start date and the term — 12, 24, or 36 months are typical — and the tool does the month arithmetic for you, landing on the matching day-of-month rather than counting a fixed number of days.
Everything hinges on which date you treat as the start. Warranties variously run from the purchase date on the receipt, the delivery date for shipped goods, or the installation or registration date for appliances and electronics — and those can be weeks apart. Pin down the event the manufacturer actually counts before you compute, because the expiry moves day-for-day with it.
Unlike the deadline tools on this site, a warranty runs in continuous calendar time: it does not skip weekends or roll forward off a holiday. An expiry that lands on a Sunday is final on that Sunday. That is why this calculator asks only for a start date and a term, with no workweek or country to set.
Worked example
A laptop bought on March 31 with a 12-month warranty expires on March 31 the following year. A 12-month warranty starting on January 31 is the instructive case: there is no February 31, so the expiry on a one-month plan would clamp to the last day of February, and even on a 12-month term the end-of-month behavior is what catches people out. If today is three months before expiry, the calculator also shows roughly 90 days of coverage remaining — your cue to file a claim now rather than later.

What date should I use as the warranty start?
Use the event the manufacturer counts from, which is not always your purchase date. Shipped goods often run from delivery; appliances and electronics frequently run from professional installation or from the date you registered the product. Check the warranty card, because a gap between buying and installing shifts your expiry by exactly that many days.
Does the warranty extend if it expires on a weekend or holiday?
No. A warranty runs in calendar time and does not roll forward the way a court or banking deadline does — if it expires on a Saturday, that Saturday is the last covered day. Don't count on a grace day; if you are close to the end, open your claim before the date passes.
What does "days remaining" mean, and is this legal advice?
It is the number of days from today until the expiry date, shown as zero once you are past it, so you can see at a glance whether you still have time to claim.
